Twenty Fifty Hundred

I never sold gems to the bums in the slums
Only robbed devils, made a few number runs

Brothers round my way they like to blabber at the gums
Just jealous cause I got it by the tons

Twenty fifty hundred, is how I count my bills
Then I take it slow because it runs into the mills

Brothers try to step to this but all they catch is chills
No frills, Puba pays the bills

And that my love... was a look at Mike Ballard's "The Art of Everything Exhibition" with the soundtrack of Grand Puba Lyrics.

A Kind Rewind

Going back to the dorm rooms when I was in college, I remember I went out and bought these crazy speakers... So loud, so bumpin, so amazing. We would play Rahzel all the time. I would have my roomie run up the stairs and still be able to hear it 3 floors above. It was the shit, I loved it and you could feel it. My neighbors and everyone in that hall acted like they were mad at me but I knew they secretly liked it.
When summer time rolled around, there were about 100 people out in the court yard below my room. We would put those speakers up in the window and bump Wu-Tang and Marvin Gaye. I remember for a bit some guys tried to top me by puttin out their own speakers with there bunk ass music... Fellas didn't have it though and I continued with peace.
Getting written up for the enjoyment of my music is a beautiful memory of mine; a kind rewind.

Filthy, Raunchy, Raw: Pt. 2

Remember my blog about Brian Viveros back in August? If you don't, go check the little insert. This 2007 painting, "DirtyLand III" is so bad ass, I just love it... The painting tagged back into the game when I finally saw Ri-Ris new music video, "Hard."

In the video, Ri-Ri kept her mood real rude with style. She was armed to the teeth and topped with a mickey mouse helmet which I found viciously appealing. The fact that there is a resemblance between the "Dirty land III" painting and Ri-Ri's outfit holds my attention indubitably. To me, this is simply another display of iconic fashion and a work of art that in fact... does "go hard."

And on a final note, for those of you who were wondering: The Mickey Mouse Helmet is a product of Jeremy Scott's 2007 collection, "Right to Bear Arms."

"Reebok kicks will soon again be popular among ballers all over the world." -Chris Bibey(Hoopsvibe.com)

That being said, let me school you through a little history lesson:
The year of 1989 is when the Reebok "pump" was first born. Specifically designed for basketball, the sneaker was sold for 170 bones which doubled the price of a regular shoe. Within 4 years over 20 million pairs were sold and we can put a big thank you out there too Dee Brown.

Im pretty sure I'm right to say he left a remarkable impact in your dead-eye. If not, let me refresh your memory: Dee Brown, Boston Celtics, 1991, All Star weekend, Slam Dunk Contest. Brown rocking those black, white, and orange Pumps...Before Brown's final dunk, he leaned over and pumped up his Reebok's. He put the icing on the cake, as he covered his eyes with his arms and threw down just killin it in the contest. After that shot he bent forward and deflated his pumps...Bitchinnnnnn!

When I had seen Falconiere's collection I knew it was right.

No doubt about it, I'm diggin Falconiere's silver-tone multi-chain epaulets, fi-shooooooo. Lets give props to Juniper Rose from New York for bringing us this medieval armor-inspired jewelry line . Some serious shit.

If the silver-tone multi-chain is not enough for you, maybe this silver, gold and brass-tone chain-link epaulet will be. Whether over suit or skin, this jewelry is street stopping and statement making so make it right.

My crew is never ever wack because we stand strong.
Now if you say my style is wack that's where you're dead wrong.

Bellevue Suite Goes Hard

I worked all day, then I worked all night. By the time I got out of the shop at 11pm I decided to give somone a little jingle. Ryan and I went to see Bellevue Suite. For those of you that love alternative rock, well... you missed out.
Bellevue Suite... Hmm... describing them, I would have to say a mix between hard rock and a little grunge for sure. Some songs start out with a little more classic headbanging metal with a smooth transition back into the bands own style. The drummer Barry Jager goes hard topping off the night with his own solo set at the end which was beautifully insane. It was incredible! One of my favorite parts of the night was when Bellevue rocked out to a Britney Spears song, "Hit Me Baby One More Time." Shit was ill to say the least.
Ryan and I jammed out through the night. When the show was over, I realized I was loosing my voice. That's when you know it was a great show.
As we went to the bar to get one last drink I looked to my right and was standing by a very pretty woman who had to top 6.3ft. Rockin my sneakers that night, made her look like a giant next to me... in her defense... me a dwarf. haha We got a good laugh about the difference as Ryan trying not to be obvious was taking pictures that dont do its justice. Shitsssss funny. All in all, Saturday night was super fun. Sorry you werent there, suckas.

Bookies, Highrollers and Freakin Swashbucklers

Imma risk taker, a money maker, and a bitch breaker
I got the wicked cardsharps and fierce crapshooters
I got the fighting dicers and threatening highrollers
I got the cruel backers and dangerous bettors
I got the venomous bookies and exquisite bookmakers
I got the brutal plunger and the stabbing shill
I got the number runners and the skill-full players that kill
I got the charlatan daredevil and the cutthroat entrepreneur
I got the fortune-hunting gambler and the globetrotting tour
I got the heroines, the madcaps and the relentless mercenaries
I got the pirate opportunists and the speculating fairies
I got stylish swashbucklers and the grandstanding swordsman
I got the murderous hot-shots and the bitchin' bones clan
Imma risk taker, a money maker, and a bitch breaker

A couple weekends ago I stopped in at the casino on my way home from the art gallery. It was a Saturday night. Not much of a gambler but more of an entertained people watcher. I regret the fact that I did not introduce myself to the man with silver sneakers, some good lookin jeans, a plain tee shirt and a fierce hair style that was accompanied by two other men which I had crossed paths with... twice. If you know who you are or know who that is, call me...

Milwaukee: Open Canvas 2009

Last night after work I headed to Buffalo street to attend Open Canvas. Open Canvas is an event that goes on once a year. Bringing more than 80 leading artists together to create paintings in one day is certainly a rush. They artists start around 1 and the doors open to the public at 6. Its a great experience to watch the artist finish up and then place your bids. The auction starts around 9 and all the money goes to MIAD and the Eisner Museum.

Self Portrait, Katie Musolff

I ran into one of the artists, who is a full time painter, Katie Musolff. She used to work at Black Dragon Tattoo and is really one of kind with her sweet personality. Her paintings are beautifully done and she really brings the objects and characters to life.

As the night went on, I watched my brother place bids as women with killer heels and bitch'n clutches stood behind him waiting to rip the marker out of his hands. My favorite part of the evening is when he went to go bid on a painting for my Mom. The painting on the left of the one he was bidding on was the one I didn't care for the most. It was in my opinion, poorly done, as my 2 year old niece could paint better than that. This lady took the marker out of his hand went up to #?? and out bid the previous $100 by $900 more. My brother slowly turned around with his eyes wide open, looked at me and was like "who the fuck is she!" It was all slow motion for this lady just bid 1000 bones on a painting that I would throw away.

One man's garbage is another ones treasure.

Too KOOL or jus jealous...

You know one thing I love about Waukesha is this Mexican Restaurant called Casa Del Rio. It all started when Geo told me about the horchata they got there. Its crazy good. I would stop there about 3 or 4 times a week to get my fix in. As most of you know, I did buy a half gallon one time and couldn't drink it for a while... but im back in the game, yes, back on all the hype.

Another thing I love about that restaurant is the people. The service is amazing and everyone inside is so friendly. I love walking in there and being greeted with a smile and walking out with a handshake. They know who I am there.... They know what I like... The food is amazing. I appreciate the time that Geo and I get to spend at this place. At Casa Del Rio, I sit comfortably enjoying the fantastic atmosphere while KOOLFOOL wishes he could be as KOOL like me.

SO this morning I check out KoolFools blog and this is what he wrote....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is going on?

Sometime late afternoon, co-Worker Shugar and I would go grab some food before appointments. For second time straight, she had her horchata refilled for free while I just sit there with my half empty glass.

I don't know what to think, I ate there all the time and I had never gotten one free refill, and still haven't.

I think the waitress wants Shugar to be her next daughter in law! She gets gallons of free horchata from this poor love struck guy works there already, maybe that is the son.

Of course, just some rumors I am spreading. ( Well, I am just jealous... ha ha ) ....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is so great! Another thing that made me smile this morning... Truth is, Geo is pretty damn KOOL. He is full of knowledge and peace. He is a man of wisdom and pretty funny too! Maybe next time they will fill his glass... haha

Last Weeks Movie Mayhem...

Wednesday -

Went to the Downer with the lovely ladies Annie and Kim! Man, I miss those girls. I always have such a great time with them. We saw the movie "Coco before Chanel." I have waited a long time for that move to come out so this was pretty exciting and overdue.
Annie came stocked with her own popcorn of course... but no sweet candy soda. ha! Looking around us, the theater was filled with paired up ladies whose age was ranging from 50 to 80 years. So cute... The french movie was subtitled and Kimmy, not wanting to read, thought it was it was too long. Although the film "Coco before Chanel" did not get very good reviews, Annie and I enjoyed it. Once you get into the movie you forget that you are reading... so... If you don't know the history of Ms. Chanel I suggest you go see it for a little background. :)

Thursday-

Went to the Majestic with another friend of mine that I haven't seen in a long time. JJ, gosh I haven't kicked it with him in years. It was real nice to see him for a bit. We picked to see "The Fourth Kind." Very interesting movie to say the least. Would I watch it again? Uhhh, No. Do I believe it... Yea right... ha!

The next days following text messages:

JJ: Are you still on planet earth or were you abducted?

Me: I don't know... I thought I saw a white owl in my dream last night, but I cant remember. I'm glad you are still alive today.

JJ: I'm pretty happy about not getting anal probed by aliens too.

Friday-

My homeboy Adam and I went to Hillside to see "Law Abiding Citizen." I love Jaime Foxx and Gerard Butler. This movie, by far was my favorite of last weeks movie mayhem. And with those two actors satisfying eye candy... ha... it all worked out. Action packed, a little unreal but still kept me on my toes waiting to see what was going to happen next. Adam jumped a couple times in this movie and considered it to be scary.... Hes a freak though. If you like Guy Ritchie films, no doubt you will like this.

David Garibaldi - Justin Bua?

Garibaldi
Bua

Garibaldi

Bua
I was at my friend Sean's place this weekend checkin out his new headquarters. I park outside this brick building in Milwaukee... kind of looks like a sweatshop but very vintage and gallant at the same time. I walk in to a crisp and clean place, there is no roughin around the edges to be found. His walls are white but decorated with art. Beautiful, kind of jealous... Above his comfortable couch with the red velvet blanket was a print that caught my eye. It reminded me of Justin Bua but that was not his signature on the bottom. I had asked Sean about these prints he had and he then called me over to check out some more paintings done by David Garibaldi.
I was always a huge fan of Bua and now im diggin Garibaldi too. They both paint on reflection to urban hip hop. Check it...
