Viewing Pleasure to Rock your World

James Jean is a one of a kind artist and illustrator.

I always loved his wok because of his unique flavor.

He is an out of the box artist, fishoooooooo. ILL to say the least.

My mind is at peace when I watch this animation that was created for Pradas collection last year. It is quite a contriversal video with two strong opposing sides. Interpret it. What does it mean to you?

Taste Senstations - I dont play

Upon leaving the hotel for Bills Memorial, George and Rachel insist that I take home the rest of the sour cream and raisin pie along with some cranberry walnut bread they had bought. They had purchased these goods at the farmers market in Madison which makes it extra top notch!

At first I declined... considering, that I already ruined my Saturdays goal of no sugar and realize that I have to begin again tomorrow. And... lets be real, there is no way I could resist temptation if the sweets were in front of me the rest of the night. When it comes down to it, lets say Saturday was an exception to the no sugar due to the day of celebration for Bill's life. Anyway, I took the pie home... I tell ya, I did really good not even embracing one taste.
Sunday I woke up early, took the dogs on a stroll, witnessed the sun rise and was in the car in route to Oshkosh by 6:45am. When I arrived in Oshkosh two hours later, breakfast seemed equivalent to a very, very, good supposition. We went to Beckets where they have a lovely Sunday brunch buffet. I like that restaurant because it is contemporary, it has has dazzling light fixtures, cold but cool furniture, art hanging on the walls, and the people are friendly. Besides the commendable atmosphere, the brunch is pretty damn tasty.

As I begin, I look at the chap preparing omelets... "nahhhh," I thought to myself, "I crave something fresh." So I pick up my plate head strait towards the fruit. The Watermelon and pineapple were looking scrumptious so I used the tongs to select some fruit and then proceed to continue down the line. ---I could not make up my mind; I really did not know what else I was in the mood for. --- As I make it to the end of the buffet table my eyes were led strait to the desserts. I filled up the rest of my plate with a seven layer bar and a decadent brownie. I don't mess around. All day no play.

Day one today.

Bills Memorial Day - Reflection Time.

My past has been filled with creative ways. I would like to thank my Mother and Father for raising me with a well rounded art background. Since I was little, I have been drawing and painting. Beginning with the basics, I was then led to making jewelry, painting furniture. shoes, and mural's, and then I started getting into photography. Growing up I always wanted to have a career where I could be called an Artist. Although, I wanted this title, I looked at my friends who were currently enrolled in art school and saw how unbecoming they were. I started to realize  that I didn't want to take the chance of  being a starving artist.

(My Moms and I at the Milwaukee Tattoo Convention)
I wanted to do art for the love of it and not because I was forced to. When my high school days came to an end, I made the decision that I was not going to go on in college for Art. Instead, I went to school to study Spanish and Human Services. Four years of studies and I had only taken one art class. Pathetic. That is something I truly regret. Although I had taken only one art class, I kept up with my painting to earn some extra cash on the side. That being said, I am going to rewind and take you back to the days where it all started.

It was my 18th birthday, the day I was considered a legal adult (lol) and my parents had surprised me with my first tattoo appointment. They dropped me off at Black Dragon Tattoo.  I walked though the door feeling a little hyperactive and nervous. I received my first tattoo from Barry, who made me feel comfortable by talking to me the whole time. It was a small four leaf clover. I was so excited and filled with adrenaline that when he told me to go look in the mirror, I couldn't believe that it was already done.
My first year of college had ended and during my summer break I went back to Black Dragon Tattoo. My purpose of this return was  to scope the flash for ideas of what I wanted next. I was greeted by Bill Hanson, owner of the shop. Bill and I got to talking and he told me to bring in some of my drawings. So.... time passed and there I found myself sitting with Bill coming up with ideas for my additional body art. In flowing form my tattoo starts with a design before the clover, followed by peacock feathers and a tiger lily preceding with an abundance of flowers and vines creating the illusion of a skull. Its beautiful.

(Bill making a stencil)
I sat for many hours while Bill tattooed me. Through conversation  he had gathered that I was creative and a hard worker.  The day of my final appointment Bill had asked if I wanted to apprentice for Black Dragon Tattoo. This was amazing I thought to myself.  I said yes right away but because I was a Junior in college, Bill told me that I must graduate first. He had told me that tattooing isn't for everyone and it is a lot of work. With Bills offer, I continued to go to school  but came home on my breaks to start to learn the fundamentals of tattooing. May 2008 I graduated from the University with a Major in Human Services and Spanish and was ready to move on to my next challenge.

(George letting me practice)
Learning how to draw tattoo style was not easy. I considered myself an out of the box thinker and artist. I though anything can go, use your imagination and it will work. This is not true for tattooing. Things had to make sense, your lines have to meet up and be straight and your shading has to be smooth and solid.

(Finishing the color in Willis. My first tattoo I did on Skully)
This was a huge challenge for me. I would come in at night after work and Bill would give me assignments. Sometimes when I came back with my product, he must of thought he was crazy for getting into this with me. Despite that, he then would sit down with me and show me how to draw. There were many people wondering why Bill was taking me on. Many people thought it was pointless but for some reason Bill had faith in me. He was my motivation. He believed that I could be a great tattoo artist. He was confident with my hard work and told me If I keep up, someday, I will get there... I will be called a tattoo artist.

(Tattooing my Pops)
While in my apprenticeship, Bill had passed away. The one man that was training me. The one that had so much confidence and faith in me was now gone. A year has passed without Bill and I am proud to say that because of him my motivation and inspiration still drives. I know he watches down on me and my work. The months after were very rocky roads and I thank everyone that has put their two cents in my apprenticeship that Bill had started. I am tattooing now, and for Bills kind heart, words of wisdom, and faith I am forever thankful.

(Barry, Me, Nancy, Rich)
Today, I will be celebrating his life with my fellow co-workers, my second family, the Black Dragon crew. Rest is Peace Bill and stay with me as I travel through the rest of this jouney as a tattoo artist.

Sweets are a Delicacy that I often Abuse

So I have yet to have a business card out there. At the shop, everyone calls me Sugar or Shug due to the masssive amounts of candy and sweets I consume on a daily basis. When talking about a Tattoo Artists' business card, there was no way I was going to have printed, "Tattoos by Sugar" on fact that it sounds like you will be getting inked by a stripper. That being said, I still wanted to a little something on the card the resembles me in a way and the Boss Lady already took my shoe idea... booooo to that.
I am constantly matching my nails to my attire and thought it would by cute to match my nails with my character for my business card.
(This is not serious... Sweets are the least of what defines me, but, I thought it would be fun and exulting.)
George had the brilliant idea of tattooing my nails. So, not even 5 minutes after he came up with the idea, I was out and about, buying "sweet nails" ha, to bring back to the shop and start to create. George tattooed the first one. He did that jubilant cupcake, and yes, I do want to eat it. Following Geo's lead  I did a lolipop, a donut, a chocolate chip cookie, some hard candies, a cakeroll, and a fudgsicle and in pursuit, Nancy did a candy cane and the cotton candy. Tattooing acrylic nails was hard, but all in all, it was rollicking, entertaining, and merrymaking.
 Real talk.
Stayed tuned to see my business card at a later date.

Ebay: She took my lunch money, just like she stole my bus fare.

In recent times on eBay: Everything is going left cause nothing seems to go right.

Let me tell you.. You know that Madsteeze messenger bag that I have talked about in my previous blog? Well, the unbelievable happened; it was listed on eBay. And guess who had the winning bid... thats right. Hyperactive and thrilled, I couldnt wait to get this bag. Then, the unfortunate happened. Fan-fuckin-tastic. The seller now has said, "shipping was going to cost more...".  Did she not know when she posted the price? We all know that when something is posted you may not change it but living in a nice well mannered household I said ok... let me know the difference. A couple weeks went by and still no response and no bag. Now I really cant stand when my fellow eBayers need to be schooled. It has been weeks and I have been writting to check the status. A dispute has been opened against this shiftless, procrastingating broad who I call "Ms. Remiss."

Bellyache Aggravation #2

One week ago, an alluring piece of clothing was listed. This Married to the Mob top came in valentines colors: red, pink and white. It was bewitching and I had to have it. So... I watched it for 6 days and on the 7th day, the bidding was going to begin. As I open my eyes from the nights well rest, I stretch my arms over my head and thought about being dressed for fall in this sold out top.

After pouring coffee into my cup, I head to the computer to acertain how many hours are left. 6 hours till the drop. Okay, now I dont want  to ruin a good pace as I did with the sneakers, so I am going to wait till the last 10 minutes to declare war. In that time, I took the devils children (my dogs) on a walk, I did a kick boxing video, I made myself breakfast, I cleaned up the house, did some laundry, took a shower, got ready for work, and only three hours had passed. What the shit. Dilatory in going to work, an hour and 30 minutes had lapsed from the time that I told myself  I had to leave. Reality was that I had to get going.

I arrive at work, where I station myself infront of the computer.  I had 2 hours to go and  I got caught up in a conversation with the guys about some disturbing videos on the internet. Now some customers  had not seen the videos which were spoken of and had asked to share the wealth... With the eBay bidding war slipping from my mind, I pull up the videos. It took about 15 minutes to view and then I had sat back down infront of the computer starring at the screen thinking, "what I am I suppose to be doing.". Like a light switch turned on, I went to my eBay account in record timing to find out that I was 5 minutes late.

Once again... I feel like she stole my bus fare.

This Will Rock You.

What a relishing delight this day had become when a friend had sent me a picture of the Hellz x Reebok sneakers. This is a look at the appreciated footwear collaboration...
How do I begin? Yellow laces... Black studs... The fold down black and white polka-dot design begining on the inside leads your eye to the Hellz & Reebok printed on the outside. As you slide you foot into these astonishing kicks, you will notice the words "Im ten steps" in one and "Ahead of you..." in the other. Contributions like this make these sneaks a must have for all "Ladys First" Women.

This here is for you.

My nail polish is blue
My car is black
I love you
and that is a fact
My eyeshadows brown
my hoody is green
my friend whos with me, whos down
the one I want on my team
Outside the snow is white
My bandana is pink
I will be tough for you and fight
I will replace your missing link
My lit candle is red
My Jewelry is gold
In this poem, what is said
is the truth behold!
wahahahaha. Biaaa.

A Thug Cant Do What a Gentleman Can...

First off, For the fellas:
The heat is fading as fall turned into winter starts to make its punctual arrival. I suggest you stock up on the Stussy collection to face the approaching cold. For the gentlemans style, "The Deluxe Pea Coat" is a the way to play it, but you can always remain safe in the fall with the "Worldwide Varisty Jacket". Check out the flavor at Stussy.com
I Heart Stussy Collaborations:
Stussy has thier priorities straight. While providing the women with lovely apparel marked "lady's first," they keep up with the men by providing a so fresh and so clean street class. Stussy knows how to play thier cards right, which is why the song "Gentleman" by Natalia Cappuccini (Verbz) plays out correctly.

My Theme Song for Stussy:
 (Gentleman by Verbs)

I want a man to bring home to my moma
got his game tight an there ain't no drama
no calls in the night from the 3rd baby moma
when the cheque comes no he ain't forgot that wallet...

rich man. poor man, hustler, whatever-
tought guys tough but he's far from clever
you don't gotta be the butler, just have manners
better put em on display or it ain't gone happen

i'm tellin ya i gotta have a gentleman
open up the doors and he holds my hand
i could have a thug but it ain't no match
cause a thug can't do what a gentleman can...

don't need your money
i got mine
what i'm askin for won't cost you a dime
can you give me what i like?
ain't no exception when it comes to ma guy...

call me by my name, don't call me babygirl
whos a girl? yo i thought i was ya lady
i need a man whos sophisticated-
read a magazine, but he reads me shakespeare
confidence mix with modesty
is the recipy when you wana step to me...
try to act hard and you won't get far
i need a lot more attention than you pay to your car
and i'm tellin you it ain't about commitment
just as long as you're handlin your business...
you don't gotta be a baller cause i prefer a boss
and a boss knows ladies come first!

i'm tellin ya i gotta have a gentleman
open up the doors and he holds my hand
i could have a thug but it ain't no match
cause a thug can't do what a gentleman can...

Corner Perplixity and Affliction

BEFORE READING: Press the pause button on my bear Suri in the upper right corner, then press the play button on the video. After that is done, you may proceed to read.

Its about 20 after 3 in the afternoon. I just got home from work  where I was  busting ass since 5 am. I go to one of my other jobs in less than an hour. Last night was a long night; I had tossed and turned and I was awake on the hour of every hour... till 4am.
As I walked in the door after returning from work, I kicked off the sneaks and closed my eyes. As my head was slowly sinking into the pillow, I turned it on. With the feeling of relaxation, trying to let go of my characters distress, my music starts to play. I hear Kooley High.
This is love.

Thank you.
